Inkjet printers use either dye-based or pigment-based ink to create a print.  To figure out which type your printer uses, you will need to do a bit of research on the cartridge series that is compatible with your machine.  You can find the ink type of your cartridges on the cartridge page of your printer manufacturer's website. Both cartridge types offer high quality text and color prints, but you may prefer one over the other, depending on your printing needs.
